Hi to all
I would need advice from those who are certainly more experienced than I am. In the various posts I have seen a lot of talk about the Dayton IMM-6C as a very good microphone and have been thinking of buying it to play with RC. However, I have a doubt since in WHA you cannot, for now, import the calibration files.
Is it worth it for me to buy it now, or should I wait until the calibration files can be imported into WHA?
What happens, how does it behave used without the calibration file?
Would it still be better than the IPAD microphone I currently use?
I am waiting for some suggestions to help me decide as I am new to experiences of this kind.
Thanks to all

As has been said before, if the calibration file corrections are +/- 1db over the range you’re measuring (say 40 to 4000) then it won’t make much difference whether you had loaded the calibration file or not. See https://forum.wiimhome.com/posts/77706/

If I were you, I’d get the imm-6c and see what you think - the ability to load calibration files doesn’t look like it’s far away: https://forum.wiimhome.com/threads/wiim-home-android-3-0-8.5939/post-99313
Hi @Burnside
Thx very much for your tip. I’ve decided to follow it and I’ve just ordered the imm-6c. :giggle:
In the end, it's not a great investment. 😂;)
By the way, I use the default range 40/4000 so there shouldn't be much difference between specific and non-specific calibration

Sorry @Burnside, but i’ll have another question about imm-6c.
I am referring to the position of the microphone for measurement.
Is it OK if I place it where I am sitting for listening, or should I place it close to the speaker involved?
Thank you and sorry if I'm boring, but this is a new subject for me even though I've been an hifi addict since I was 18 years old

I normally hold it at the listening position but if that’s wrong, I’m sure someone will soon come along to correct me!

The same i’m doing when I use the internal mic of my IPAD. I’ll use that position for imm-6c too.
Thx for your reply

So do I with my IMM-6 plugged into the headphone socket of my Pixel 4a.

I'm about to try it plugged into my ancient Samsung Tab A to see if the results are similar.
I found that with an iMM6 plugged into my Pixel 3a headphone socket the low frequencies were rolled off far too much. Of course I didn't know this until I compared to a UMIK-1 USB mic.

I am waiting for the microphone I ordered in France to arrive because it was not available in Italy. When it arrives I will do some experiments by connecting it to :
Samsung S20+
IPAD 10th gen
Honor Tab 9
I will let you know the results. In this regard, another question comes to mind. When I connect the microphone to the various devices I have described, is it automatically seen excluding the internal microphone, or do I have to go into some device settings to select Dayton?
Ditto for WHA's ARC. Does it automatically select it or do I have to set something?
Sorry, but as I said, I am ignorant on the subject.

It should automatically use the external mic. WHA room correction will tell you which mic it is using during the tuning process. It should tell you before the tuning process but that will be fixed in the next app update.

Yes, in my Android case.

As shown in the image here, the WiiM RC automatically identifies the microphone. There is nothing for you to do 😉.

Btw, I use a USB-C extension adapter and a USB-C cable 😊.
