Place to buy the Wiim Sound instead of Amazon?

Hello,

I'm just trying to find somewhere, for U.S. delivery, to get the Wiim Sound. The only places I can find it are Amazon, a German website that adds $130 to the price (not counting shipping), and some EBay listings with $100+ shipping from Europe. I've managed to avoid using Amazon for over a decade and don't plan to cave.

Will it be for sale through any other outlets? It's new enough that I'm not seeing any used ones.

A local HiFi store?
I remember they existed before online was even a term.

Ya know, I had that idea the other day and was like "they probably get it from Amazon too, so why bother?"

Now that you've said it, I'm sitting here thinking my thought was maybe stupid, they possibly order it direct like the way most products work. Or it's just impossible to avoid Amazon completely because it could still be coming from an Amazon warehouse. But at least if I tried, and a local business gets a cut. There are a couple car stereo places here that sell home audio too.

Thanks, I had emailed Crutchfield earlier since they're actually about two hours down the road and listed (even though they carry no Wiim products right now), so we'll see. The only other two results coming up for the U.S. aren't promising so far.

EDIT: Crutchfield said no dice, maybe once they start carrying Wiim products again

Typically, there are distributors, and retailers purchase from them. I don't think they purchase directly from Amazon. (That's what resellers do.)

Indeed, that's why I realized my initial doubt didn't make much sense. I think Amazon can be a distributor for businesses too, but not as much. Still calling local places.

Well, that's disappointing. I bought all of my WiiMs except the Audio Pro through Crutchfield, but now when I search for WiiM they change it to Denon. WTF, Crutchfield?

There are certainly compelling reasons to avoid Amazon.

I chatted with someone at Crutchfield and he was like "we used to carry a lot of their stuff but once we sold out we never got more and I'm not sure why." He used the phrase "in limbo" and said they should be carrying them at again at some point

Well, I had mentioned, there are a few international sources already. I was just trying to avoid adding another 30% or more to the price by paying more for the speaker from another source and/or international shipping.

I'm used to paying a bit more to avoid Amazon, but what I'm seeing on UBuy, and other shipments coming from outside the U.S., are a massive price difference. Thanks though.
