I think it would complicated things. As soon WiiM would allow this there would be a large number of request for Meta Data, ripping, etc.

Better to have a proper CD transport in the WiiM ecosystem.

It's not possible to pay for additional features from WiiM in an existing product. They include what is beneficial for WiiM, nothing else.

Closest thing you can do is buy something like SMSL PL100 or PL150 or PL200 and then connect it via Toslink optical S/PDIF to your WiiM's optical input.

I have a PL150, since it has a remote and it comes in solid black. Works great. I tried a regular CD drive when I had the Eversolo DMP-A6 Gen 2, but the problem with those types of drives is they spin up quite fast and loudly. The players like these SMSLs do not do that, they stay nice and quiet, and yeah, the remote is handy when you listen from 10 feet away.

Sorry, I had WiiM Ultra in mind and it has no coax input, only coax output.
