Project Uni Box S3

The product description and manual don’t seem to talk about any of those additional services - in fact, it strikes me like many products that use Linkplay modules and an “entry level” WiiM app, not unlike Audio Pro speakers which also lack Roon ready status, squeezelite, room correction, bass management etc.

I wouldn’t say it’s a re-boxed WiiM Amp (for one thing, it doesn’t digitise its analog inputs) but rather a different amp design based around a “basic” Linkplay streaming module with none of the additional WiiM goodies we’ve come to expect from WiiM devices.

And consequentially both threads would better fit into the off-topic forum, since this is related to Linkplay, but not to WiiM ...

The Project user manual actually refers to WiiM in places but NOT Linkplay anywhere that I can see - https://www.project-audio.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/UniBoxS3-Userguide.pdf - are you sure it isn't a WiiM streamer ?
One place, as far as I can see. :D

The question of interest would be if the Uni Box S3 really can linked with WiiM products, only, but not with other Linkplay based products. Honestly, I doubt it. Customers usually don't know if their device contains a Linkplay module, but they do know if they own a WiiM product. I suspect they didn't want to name too many competing brands in their manual. ;)

As has been discussed in those other two threads everything seems to indicate that Pro-ject are using a somewhat older Linkplay module.

I believe that, like many products based on Linkplay modules, they can be linked with WiM devices - I think a screenshot in their manual shows a Wiim Mini grouped with it, but as said it's based on an older module and basic firmware like the non-WiiM Edition Audio Pro speakers and hence won't have the features we've got on 'real' WiiM devices.
