Hi all,

I have a WiiM Pro Plus and the remote for it really doesn't work well at all. I sometimes have to press pause 5 or 6 times (from a distance of only 2 metres) for it to work. Is this normal (i.e. the remote is rubbish for everyone) or should I contact WiiM support?

The big issue that I have is that I'll get a phone call and I won't be able to pause the music before it goes to my voicemail. So I now have to get up and run out of the room.

Solution
For me, remote button power on/off takes 5-6 seconds to respond.
That's probably the device taking a couple of seconds to prepare its shut down, not the response time of the remote.

The pattern is pretty clear by now:
  • If you disconnect your WiiM from the mains power e.g. overnight, accept a <10 seconds delay after pressing the first button.
  • If your WiiM remains in standby all the time, the remote will function almost instantly.
  • Processing of the power off button pressed takes a couple seconds to complete.

That's mostly it.

Please submit a support ticket through the feedback section of the WiiM app.

Is the problem only with the playback/stop button?

Suggest replacing your batteries and see if that is the issue. Once batteries get low, their output signal gets weaker. I just went through something like this.

After a power cycle of my WiiM Amp or Pro Plus the remote always takes 5-6 presses before working. But only once (like an initial connect). Afterwards all presses work like expected.

Same here with amp. First I have to press for 4-6 times, until Remote works well. Amp is two weeks old and new batteries are in the Remote… this is every time I Switch on the amp.

I try to avoid using the remote but when I do I always get the impression I must be pointing it in the wrong direction as it takes a few presses to achieve anything.

For me, I've realised that the remote goes to sleep. Probably to conserve batteries. It means that the first press of the day wakes it up. That takes about 10 seconds. Then after that it works fine all day. I'd prefer to have an option to keep it awake as I have rechargeable batteries but I get why they've done that.

I don't have this issue with any of my seven WiiM remote controls. Do you leave your WiiM Pro Plus in standby, or do you turn off at the mains when not in use?

Good question. Yes, I have a smart plus that turns it off each night. So maybe that's causing it.
Try leaving it on standby for a few days, and see if that makes any difference for you. Obviously, the remote will become unpaired when your Pro Plus is disconnected from the mains, and the issue that you have may be while waiting for the remote to pair to your Pro Plus after restoring the mains power.

Yeah, I never thought about the fact that I was switching it off. I'm happy to take the hassle of it not working immediately the first time each day in order to save a bit of energy :) Thanks for your help.

I would fully agree with that.
