Request for USB port to cease comunicating to a DAC when Off/on Standby

Hi. My Ultra's output is set to USB as it's feeding my external DAC.

It appears that when the awiim os off or in Standby mode, it continues to send some type of signal to my DAC, so it never goes to sleep.

My request is for the USB port to completely cease all communication/power sending to the connected device (a DAC in my case) so it can go to sleep alongside the Wiim.

Does your DAC have an auto-shut down setup option when no input signal is detected?

Yes it does, and its On.

The USB 5V is the issue not the input signal. I had the same issue when using a Topping E30 with a Raspberry Pi Squeezelite player. A udev power rule fixed it.

I knew someone would ask about that . In Linux you can add rules that control what happens when a USB device is connected. I have no idea how to do the same on a WiiM device. Everything is described here

Thanks a lot for the explanation. I hope Wiim adds something like it as a feature, so we can get our external DACs to go into standby.

This is a good suggestion which I would also like implanted for my WiiM Amp. So turn of the usb 5v output when the WiiM is in standby mode.

I think this would be a welcomed feature. If WiiM were to implement it, hopefully they can make a toggle in the settings whether to turn this functionality on or off.

I have my Ultra driving 2 fans underneath a pair of Fosu V3 monos. Turning off the usb power to the fans when the Ultra enters standby (and the Fosis are no longer needed) would be nice. Not as important perhaps as trying to get a DAC to enter standby, but still a useful function.

You would probably save more energy than those wanting a DAC to enter standby
