Hello everyone!
I'm a new WiiM customer (I've recently acquired a WiiM Amp Ultra). After around 2 weeks of playing around and enjoying my new setup, some questions and feature resets for the RoomFit feature have come to mind from the perspective of a new user who has an interest in the technical aspects but not much knowledge yet!
First of all, I'd like to mention that my setup is a simple stereo setup, but due to limitations in my room, I'm unable to place the speakers at an equal distance from my listening position. I've manually tuned the volume difference in the Audio Settings tab in the app to adjust for the difference and used L/R RoomFit. However, this is not perfect. Therefore, a feature request for RoomFit that came to mind would be automatic level adjustment. From my understanding, this shouldn't be very hard to implement. A similar but also different request would be to allow manual and automatic timing adjustment to correct for the distance between the two speakers to improve the stereo image. This is something very old AVRs can do, so to my understanding, there shouldn't be a lack of processing power for this. Going even further, it would be good to see a correction to adjust phase misalignment, but I have no clue if the hardware is capable of this.
Another thing that would be nice would be if the app allowed the user to store the measurements made during RoomFit and later allow running the correction based on those measurements with different target curves and other parameters to help A/B test configurations.
Speaking of parameters, I would appreciate it if there were more documentation regarding them, since for new users not very familiar with room correction theory, it is not clear what should be chosen. For example:
- Target curves - show a visualization of the target curve in the settings when selecting it.
- Explain the differences between the various smoothing modes and which one is recommended and why.
Another thing is that I don't find myself using the 10-band PEQ on top of RoomFit, and it would be nice to have an option to dedicate those bands to RoomFit to achieve more accurate EQ. Since the processor is able to perform 10-band PEQ and 10-band RoomFit, it should be able to perform 20-band RoomFit.
I wasn't sure whether to post this on the forum or whether to send it to WiiM support, so I posted it here so that there is a chance for community feedback on it
