Separate Speaker Group Settings in 5.1 for TV but main stereo only for Music

I am unsure if this functionality currently exists, but if it does, I have not been able to find it. It would be beneficial to have the ability to assign specific speaker groupings to different sources. For instance, I use the WIIM Ultra along with two Audio Pro A10 MKII speakers in a Dolby 5.1 configuration for my TV source. However, when switching to a music source, I would prefer to use only the WIIM Ultra without the rear speakers.

I understand that I can manually toggle this setting in the app, but it would be more convenient if each source could retain its own configuration. Ideally, there would be an option to set different groupings with separate main and surround volume levels based on the source. Currently, adjusting the surround speakers’ volume to zero for music also affects the TV settings, which is not ideal.

Submit a feature request ticket via the more/feedback section in the app, and WiiM might consider it for a later version of smart presets/ persistent groups. It would, be useful if you could use a persistent group for 5.1, and the easily switch to a music group with its own volume settings etc

Hi juristech,

We are considering a feature that allows customers to configure different sound profiles for each input source, including volume, playback devices, EQ, and more. This feature ensures that playback devices can vary based on the selected source, meeting your requirements.

Good to know!

Isn't that exactly the same as smart presets?

Not currently as far as I can tell. Going from 5.1 back to just the ultra in stereo mode isn't persestant when changing inputs. All inputs default to whatever config was last used.
OK I didn't realise this was about 5.1, I was just remarking on the reply from @WiiM Team which sounded like a description of smart presets. Maybe they intend to improve smart presets since at the moment they are quite limited.

Maybe what the team was referring to is including device (AND group) selection in the smart presets 🙂

One additional issue I encounter is related to the phantom center. I find that I need to continuously adjust the sync delay when the source format changes on the television. For instance, if I watch a movie in Dolby, the sync may be satisfactory, but when the source is stereo, it becomes out of phase. This inconvenience requires me to manually adjust my phone whenever I switch between shows in stereo and those in Dolby.
