Spotify Spotify audio quality setting

Soo many years later, and Spotify and Youtube Music - such a huge music services, cannot go beyond 320 / 16b ...
Which perhaps isn’t surprising when you consider what I’d guess to be their main market - younger listeners with mobile phones and earbuds.

My main use of Spotify always was on the go, or checking things out just like in record shops way back when.
The actual reduction in sound quality with 320 kb/s OGG Vorbis versus lossless is not very large in blind comparisons. That said I prefer Qobus. Tidal is a bit iffy with their hidden MQA lossy music marketed as hires.

Are you sure that the remaining MQA titles are really (still) tagged "hi-res" or "max" in the Tidal GUI?

I've come across titles shown as "16-bit 44.1kHz FLAC", which an enabled DAC shows as MQA. One example is e.g. O Superman by Laurie Anderson (and this applies to the entire album):

This might trigger complaints, but at least it's "just" tabbed "high", not "hi-res".

I agree!
