Strange behavior on Output settings

Hi,

When I set the Wiim Pro Plus to 48kHz/24 Bit Qobuz is playing in Wiim just 44.1\16 Bit, when I set my output to 96kHz/24 Bit Qobuz will play 48kHz/24 Bit.

Any idea?

Christian

Are you using Coax or optical? How are you verifying Qobuz output bitrate? Does the same track show the bitrate change when you increase the Pro Plus output?

At the moment I am using coaxial.

When I play, I can see the playoutnsettimgs in Wiim… and there I see, it’s just CD Quality, when Ipswich the Output to higher Samplerate, everything is OK!
It is the same in Roon… when I play with Roon, Roon gets the playoutnsettimgs from the Wiim, and Roon will downsample to 44.1\16
Whalen I set the Wiim to 96, Roon Stopps downsampling.

Te strange thing is: if I play a clip with 48/24, it will be downsampled in Roon to 44.1/16 even if the output setting is set to 48/24!
Setting output settings in Wiim to 96/24, Roon is playing in native with 48/24!

I have no experience with Room so no help there. But, I'm guessing that Roon might be causing this.
Can you play your tracks w/o using Room and see if tracks play natively?
For reference, I have my Wiim Pro using Coax Out to an external DAC Input. Then, analog out to my AVR. All tracks play at the resolution that Qobuz is specifying.
I'm sure someone who uses Room will offer a solution. I'm curious to see what they reply with.

No matter what I am using! Always same effect! Roon, Qobuz App, Wiim App.

As long as i have my outputnsetting in Wiim 48/24 a song with 48/24 will be downsampled to 44.1\16.

Have you tried a factory reset on the Pro Plus? And, you can open a ticket w/Wiim to see if they have a fix, as well.

Is this a new item and has it done this since Day One?1000002827.png

This was day one ;)

Have you tried to switch your outputs on the Wiim to fixed 48kHz/24 Bit to try if you have the same issue? That would be interesting to find out, if it is maybe a bug.

I'll try that later today. I do remember cycling through the settings when I first got it but that was over a year ago.

I'll report back.

Are you running the latest firmware? Just a thought.

I tried 48k/24tbit and I have the same results as you.

When using 192/24, the Pro plays at the correct resolution/bitrate of each track. So, a 44.1/16 track plays at those values, a 48K/24-bit track plays at those values; a 96/24 plays at those values and a 192/24 plays at that value. That, of course, is based on my audio settings being at 192/24.

IMO, I would leave the Wiim audio settings at the max setting that your gear can support and the Wiim will play the track at its stated spec. Whether it's 16/44.1 or 24/192.
As long as those values sound good to you, that is.
