Will be picking up the Ultra when it’s released. I currently have Wharfdale Denton 85th anniversary speakers. Wanting to add a sub. Any ideas on what might be a good match? Was looking at this one from OSD. any thoughts or ideas?

I've been using two units of Kali WS-6.2 with WiiM Pro Plus. It takes either XLR or RCA input. Since it has two opposite firing drivers, it does not vibrate. Check out the following review video.

$200 does not seem like much for a subwoofer. I like Wharfedale idea mentioned. SVS also has good subs. SVS is having a sale on their outlet subs. They have good customer service and a good return policy.

Just out of interest, I entered my address to see what the shipping would be.

Seems that they're unable to ship to Leicestershire. So what's the point of them quoting a price in UK currency?

I own a set of ocd nero studio 5 bookshelf speakers and they are unbelievable for the price point. used in spare room.

$40 for two to Texas. If we are talking about $1000 subs you can't beat two stark 15 when they are on sale for 1000. If you need a mix of HT and 2 channel the hsu uls is sensational. For two channel only a couple tx-rels. I had svs up to the 4000. The starks are way stronger for HT and they aren't in the same sq league as the hsu

And XTZ, not to forget.

+1 for the vera-fi audio recommendation. if i was in the market for one i would probably get one of those. very good value for money overall. also +1 to the XTZ recommendation - another great example of direct-to-consumer sales. good value products.
+1 to RSL.

i personally have the ruark RS1 sub and am very happy with it - it is able to get lower (25Hz, -3dB) than any 8" subwoofer for reasonable money (under USD 1k) that i've come across

other recommendations i would suggest taking a look at:

(better for EU/RoW)
- bowers + wilkins ASW608
- Bk electronics P10-150-GEM (made in UK, direct-to-consumer)
- Q acoustics QB12 or 3060s

(easier to get in NA)
- roger sounds/RSL SPEEDWOOFER 10S MKII
- Monoprice Monolith 12” THX Ultra or other models like SW-12
- Emotiva Airmotiv XS8 Subwoofer (if it's ever in stock!!)

i'm personally not a big fan of REL or SVS products because they don't really represent good value for money in my opinion. especially REL - they spend too much on marketing and even their high end models are just plastered with a lot of ugly branding etc. so not my cup of tea. many people do consider their models benchmarks though - especially north americans... 🤷‍♂️

the HSU research models look pretty cool.

these kali guys keep coming out with some cool stuff huh? 👏

Im using buchardt s400 mk2 and q acoustics 3060s. Very happy with the combo. Needed a thin sub that i could hide.
