The color of the status LED in standby (again...)

Okay, this has been posted before, but the issue is still the same. To me it seems really unintuiative that the status LED is white in standby. Sure, it's dimmer, but in a sunny room that doesn't say much without a reference. All my other units, like most units in hifi history, have a red standby LED. I really think this should be changed, both for the sake of function and esthetics. If this seem annoying to some people, at least provide a configuration option to switch between the two.

My dac is red when off and white when on.
My amp is dark (off) when off and red when on.
My wiim Pro is simply white.

It's all so inconsistent, but there's always a lovely glow through the frosted glass door no matter the time of day or night.

Ideally, the LED should be Off when the device is in standby, and On when the device is in use. The colour doesn't really matter, white is perfectly okay.

And I join the request (again). I also don't care what color it is in standby mode or if it's off, the main thing is that you can distinguish this state at a glance. Of course, a dim red would be good, or a customizable color. And even better would be a separate indicator of the mode when the player is not playing anything.

Really inconsistent! I might be "lucky", but all my current gear turns red when in standby, and that's a fact for the vast majority of the stuff I have owned during my quite long life as a hifi nerd.

Red, or nothing, is better than white in standby. By the way, with standby I meant OFF, I realize now that it can be confused with on and not playing anything. I would be happy with a different color for "on and idle" and "on and playing" too. Anyway, the most annoying thing for me is that it's white when it's off.

You could always turn the Status Light off I suppose via the app when you have the WiiM off - not that it's really off of course, unless you remove the power supply.

It is never really off unless you unplug it. If you start playing something it will play even from standby. Isn't the only difference between standby and on a small power saving? Why does it matter if you can tell at a glance which state it is in?

So true. Well, anyway, back to my original definition then. When it's in standby (power saving mode or whatever) I would prefer the LED to be red, or at least off which is better than white. I like the fact that I can see when it's playing something too, but it's not necessary, at least if I could tell from the LED that it's in standby.

I'm not sure if I you mean the LED or the streamer, but I don't want to turn off the LED completely since I'm interested in seeing that the streamer is connected to the phone, computer or whatever (and therefore is on (not in standby)). And I don't want to physically remove the power from the unit either.

I don't want to blow up this issue to unreasonable proportions, but to me it's seems unusal for a device to show a white LED in standby mode, that's all. But I surely can go on with my life and be happy anyway.

Yes, the LED. The WiiM is never off unless you remove the power. But you can easily turn off the Status LED via the app when you don't wish to see it, and turn it back on when you do.

Ok, I'm with you, I know that. But it seems overly complicated to achieve the goal of a "logical behaviour".

That's not the point. What's important is an easily readable indicator, not just white-white.

For me, this isn't just a wish or a perfectionist pursuit. I have a limited internet connection and an external power amplifier, and a couple of times Wiim has already wasted my internet while the amplifier was off.

Yeah, in that case it's a real issue. I've had cases when friends stream from their phones, I turn off the preamp when we leave, and they don't stop the stream and it keeps playing. With unlimited internet it's not an issue though. I'm just happy "at a glance" to see that everything is in standby, while other people might not care.

Perhaps. Thankfully, even though my eyes are old, I don't have issues seeing the LED. My point was that the OP stated a preference for the LED to be Red or Off when the WiiM is in Standby. I simply confirmed that LED off is easily achievable.
