Why is it that going through the WiiM home app to tidal is totally different than the tidal app .
The WiiM version must think I’m a different person with totally different interests?

It didn’t use to be this way

I don't use tidal in the wiim app very often, but I see what you mean!
Apart from Custom Mixes it's totally unpersonalised, and I don't recall it being like that before.

Same here. I usually use the Tidal app even if I don't like the fact that I have to always choose the output. If both app were to be identical, I would only use the Wiim version...

I noticed this as well. The Tidal interface in the Wiim app is quite limited. It does not have to be as demonstrated by the Tidal plugin in LMS, so here is me hoping that this will be better in the future 😀

New issue, yet still related to the original issue.

I’m in the tidal app playing a new release ( that is of actual interest to me) I decide I wish to play a different new release ( album) my WiiM will not allow the switch as it has locked into the first selection I chose.
My only work around here is to physically unplug the WiiM to clear its brain .

I figure this is most likely do to updates on the WiiM and iOS 26 .
My Integra AVR with built in streaming doesn’t have this issue

Today I found that with my WiiM Ultra the WiiM Home App integrated Tidal would refuse to play any album in the correct order.

In addition, the volume was noticeably lower than when using Tidal Connect. That's with normalisation turned on in both cases. Logging out of and into my account again did not help

I'm not sure when this started and I still have to check this with my other WiiM devices. Pretty weird.

I can onfirm.
On my WiiM Ultra, latest official firmware, and latest Android app as of Jan 02, 2026, this problem is still there.
I can play tracks from Tidal in three different ways:
1. TIDAL app, and output to WiiMUltra via TIDAL connect, My Music, Playlists: Normal volume.
2. WiiM Home App, Favorites, same TIDAL playlist as a preset: Normal volume.
3. WiiM Home App, Browse, Music Services, TIDAL, Collection, same Playlist: Volume 10dB down.

On the WiiM, I'm using fixed volume output. I can clearly hear the volume differences reportet above, and I can see them on the VU meter, both original signal and output volume.

Anyone else? Is this a known bug or feature? Where to submit a service request to WiiM?
Practical approach is not to use the TIDAL connect part integrated in the WiiM Home App.

And yes, anything else there than "Custom mixes" is completely uncustomized to my music style.

If I have replay gain on in the WiiM app, it sounds pretty low compared to going through tidal connect from the tidal app and having normalization on. So it seems like the Tidal app is normalizing to a higher volume compared to the wiim app which is most likely using the standard replay gain volume of 89db.

Different handling or replay gain looks like the most likely reason, indeed. I'll have to give it a closer look.

Pre-gain is the same for all sources streamed through Ethernet or Wi-Fi, so this cannot cause a difference between Tidal Connect and the WiiM Home App integration of Tidal.

Ok, that's it.
I have tested it with a playlist with two tracks with quite different original loudnesses, and using the WiiM original signal VU meter:
Mike Oldfiled - Two France: Peaking at -5dB with replay gain "disabled", -10dB with "track gain".
Trentemoeller - An Evening with Bobi Bros: Peaking at 0dB with replay gain "disabled", -10dB with "track gain".

Contrarily, I can see no effect of the loudness normalization feature in the TIdal app itself. In any case, I get the same levels (-5dB and 0dB, respectively) as within WiiM and replay gain disabled.

So the replay gain feature in the Tidal part of WiiM Home App does the job, actually, but normalizes to a quite low volume compared to the Tidal app or without replay gain. I would prefer it to amplify quiet tracks instead of damping loud tracks.

Should we approach WiiM support for a request to increase reference volume of the replay gain feature?
