Transmitting from stereo

Sorry if this has been covered.. I want to transmit the cd playback on my stereo to another AirPort Express connected to another receiver via airplay. Will one or all of the wiim products do that? I could potentially connect to a an optical audio out or rca out on my receiver. Would that work? Thanks in advance.

No, those WiiM devices that do support airplay are receivers only, not transmitters.

Someone on reddit says i could get 2 wiim minis and accomplish this? is that accurate?

Yeah, you’d to take an analog rca feed out of the first system into one WiiM the group it with another in the WiiM home app, and then take the second WiiM’s output into the second system. That would be using the WiiM’s Linkplay protocol, nothing to do with airplay.

While a pair of mini’s would do that, you’d get better connection options using any of its larger siblings such as the Pro.
