I couldn't find this is a search, which was surprising.
Can anyone explain the differences between the DAC filter settings, as in how they work. Not interested in any subjective opinions, just what they're trying to achieve. I've never been able to reliably distinguish different dac filters on other devices and don't expect to here necessarily, but there's so many!!

These filters affect the way the DAC handles signals above the top frequency the sample rate can handle (e.g., 22,500 Hz for the 44.1K sampling rate of a CD.) The choice of filters affects how the DAC rolls off as it approaches that top frequency. It also affects how impulse signals are handled and how much "ringing" is present.

Here's an interesting article I found: https://addictedtoaudio.com.au/blogs/how-to/how-to-pick-the-best-filter-setting-for-your-dac

Personally I've never heard much of an identifiable difference between the filters, but then I'm in my 70s and don't hear high frequencies as well as someone younger might. The best suggestion I have is to find some material with significant high frequency energy (cymbals, etc.) and try each of the filters and see which one you prefer. Like many subjective perceptions in audio, there are a lot of different opinions.

The first result in searching for “filter” in the forum gave me this:

Plus there’s WiiM’s own faq re the filters in the Pro Plus:

Thanks. Bizarre that it didn't work so obviously when I tried it though using a mobile device. Anyway, thank you.

Edit: some of that info though relates to the pro plus, I'm using the Ultra. Different chip and has additional filters. This is the one that's intriguing me
