Ultra Sub out newbie question

Quick clarification please, Ultra sub out is single RCA, my old Yamaha sub I plan to experiment with has two RCA marked L+R.

Do I simply connect a single RCA lead, or do I need some form of splitter so the Sub receives two inputs?

One mono RCA cable is enough.

The manual of most subs mention if you should connect the sub out cable to the left or the right input but in reality it usually doesn't even matter and both inputs work the same.
