Sub out question

I'm now searching for stand alone speakers that don't need a subwoofer... 😒
No such beast. I have big Revels that can shake the house with deep bass. The problem with floorstanders is that the bass drivers are locked in place. The best position for your speakers upper ranges, will most often not be optimal for bass frequencies. Subwoofer(s) smooths in-room response.

Should work, I haven't tried Optical..but the census is it should work. Maybe try the coaxial out, that's working for me right now. Coaxial to DAC to stand alone amplifier.
I don't have an optical cable laying around to try. I had the sub out working fine with the onboard DAC in the Ultra. I unplugged the output cables going to the preamp, plugged them into my DAC, and connected the optical out to the DAC.switched the output in the app and I get sound from the mains but the subwoofer gets nothing. The subwoofer control in the app is still active and will highpass the outputs to my pre, just no sub. Am I missing a setting?

Coaxial*.. dont have that cable available

I had some stand alone speakers with 15 inch woofers (in the 90's), that ...filled the room. So yeah, probably right about the subwoofer, they don't make them like that anymore. I read that the Polk R700 didn't need a subwoofer.. on my Want List at the moment.

It isnt really about filling the room. If you sat down and listened to my towers you would think a big amd high powered sub was playing. It is about smoothing the response to tame room modes and filll nulls. NO tower can do all of that.

I understand that but if it is supposed to work with optical, I must be missing something?
Could be a bitrate setting.. and an update just came out pointing right at the optical and coaxial connections.

I "think" I know what you mean here. Placing that sub in an inconspicuous area...or away from the towers can give that effect your talking about.

Here is my issue. I am using a Gustard R26 external DAC. But I am outing signal from Ultra vis USB and then into SMSL PO100 for the purpose of clocking adjustment. This can only be done using USB into the PO100 and then optical from it to external DAC.

What exactly is your issue then? :)

If you cannot do without the PO100 then you cannot use the sub out. Not as of now.

Do you want to add a subwoofer?

Your R26 will do all the reclocking and some..don't need the SMSL unit. Use the sub out from the Wiim. Win.

I currently have WiiM --> [USB] --> Gustard -->[XLR]--> Amp

I have an amp with a sub out and am using it. I had tried the sub out with the WiiM and I don't remember why it was an issue......

If you were using the wiim’s usb output, you couldn’t use its sub out as well but steps are underway to resolve that
