Ultra with Audiolab m-DAC

Just picked up a s/h Audiolab M-DAC off Ebay.

A marked improvement over the Ultra's DAC.

It came with a fancy Silver Starlight 7 digital interconnect. They retail for £200! Also a £50 Audiocrast mains cable.

Going to compare with standard stuff and probably punt on Ebay. Unless they do make a difference......

Well blow me down! I have always been cynical about this stuff but there seems to be an improvement when using the £200 snake oil cable.

Not sure what words are to be used to describe the difference but it definitely seems to be clearer with more detail.

I can't compare them without a delay due to single output on the Ultra, so it could be my imagination?

I was really intending to sell the expensive cable on Ebay but now I'm not so sure.

Cables just lower the noise floor i believe, so that's why it sounds like it's clearer.

Is it a coax cable and what did you test it against?

It's RCA Coaxial, just compared it to a cheap £7 cable from Amazon. Which TBF, appears quite well built, braided and solid connectors.

Although, the expensive one is beautifully made and looks really good. Pity you can't see it behind the boxes!
