Hi, I think the working and functionallty on the WIIM OSX app is beyond par. It can be used a s a local file streamer, however the functions that are standard in the mobile apps are very limited on a Macbook.
As I do not understand the reason for that - maybe there is one - I would lke to suggest one feature speciffcally for laptops use: add the room measurement as we can do actually high quality measurements which make sense. Doing this on any phones internal mic is obviously not really helping this feature. Using a high quality mic trough a (external) soundcard which uses no limiter, noise reduction ect, could result in a great enhancement of this feature of WIIM.
Thanks!

Are you aware you can use an external mic on a phone to do RoomFit measurements?

Yes ofcourse! However I am not able to influence the software routing inside the phone. And generally this is not aimed for Hifi measurements but focused on speech within 100-5.000 hz. Exactly why I hope for a better solution trough a Lap/Desktop with a decent audiodevice or external soundcard.

I'm not sure if I have understood your point correctly, but as shown here, measurements down to 20Hz are possible with the Dayton IMM-6C microphone connected to the phone.

(However, it has been confirmed that on certain Xiaomi models, connecting an external microphone does not pick up bass frequencies.)

Actually, I am not very convinced of any mobile phone having the hardware ability for a good measurement. And this depends on each brand too. I really would love to measure the room - not specifically for bass - and use the EQ function as offered.

As WIIM has an OSX app as well, I am suggesting a feature that could make the measurement easier, more reliable and maybe cheaper.
A Macbook or Windows laptop for that matter, is better equiped if you have a good mic. Not one that is straight to USB.. which seems a bit odd to me.

So, this is a feature request for the OSX app that is really basic now...:)

You should raise the request via the WiiM Home App More/Feedback option.

The RoomFit with an external microphone on my Android phone (One Plus) has been working really good for me. So no need for anything else from here.

Please don't misunderstand me; I'm not opposed to your request. I simply wish to explain that inexpensive external microphones connected via phone's USB work without issue in the vast majority of cases.

If you need convincing you can run Room Equalisation Wizard on OSX then you can directly compare the same mic connected to a Mac and a phone.

Hi slartibartfast,

Maybe I am missing something here, but do you mean Room Equalisation Wizard in the WIIM app on OSX?
As far as I am aware, that is not availble in this app (see picture) and this is actually my feature request..:)

It is a separate very powerful program

Ok! Well, this could be helpfull..I never tried this. However, I like the function to use the WIIM software to interpret the room and adjust the EQ settings accordingly. But I guess I can do this manually as well after using this software.
