USB Artist Indexing Question

Recently acquired a Wiim Ultra which I like very much. My library currently has about 1900 artists in the Artists view. This makes scrolling for a particular artist a daunting task if, for example, one wants to scroll to the W's. My old Squeezebox Touch presented a similar alphabetical list but also offered a graphic interface shortcut for each letter of the alphabet. Wonder if it would be possible to incorporate such a feature in the app.

For this to work in a sensible way it would have to be implemented by the media server. WiiM run a customised (minimal) version of the miniDLNA on the Ultra/Amp/Amp Pro, which currently doesn't support this sorting. So, it's not just a matter of updating the app.

It would be very nice if it did, though.

Also a new user. I’m surprised alphabet tabs would be so difficult. My JRemote and my Naim App, both of which access my JRemote server, have alphabet tabs. My iPeng remote has them as well for my LMS Server. In fact JRemote offers this feature when streaming to my Wiim Pro (and can thus be used as a workaround). I can’t check right now, but I’m pretty certain that iPeng offers this feature when accessing the Wiim with via LMS/ChromeCast Plug-in.

I should note that I am referring to media servers other than the internal one for use with a USB stick. (Which of course the Pro doesn’t have. )

Our team is working on an alphabet index feature that will allow you to quickly navigate to artists whose names contain a specific letter. We plan to release this feature by mid-month, so stay tuned!

I don't think @harkpabst meant It was difficult, just that it's much more efficient if It comes from the server i.e. either the server sends the control point an A-Z index (26 items) or it sends the metadata for all the index items (possibly thousands), onto which the control point overlays a jump list.

A simple search is always faster.

Would strong recommend a server with album artist branch instead of "all artists" then using the A-B short cuts. Going from ten of thousand to 800
