I have seen other related posts here but no real solution for customers that are having difficulty getting a USB hub to work. I have a MP3 media library set up on a USB hard drive that works OK when plugged directly into the Wiim Ultra. However, to add files or edit files I need to unplug the drive and plug it into a PC. I want to use a USB hub to connect my hard drive, my Wiim and my PC together so I don't need to be disconnecting cables. When I tried to do this with my powered USB hub, the USB did not show up as a possible input in the Wiim Home app Browse window. How can I make this work?

An USB hub only support one primary device and the other ports are extensions of that.

To do what you want you will need an USB switch. The switch between the devices is usually manual in this case.

This would be a nice feature to add to the Ultra. From the postings in this forum, it seems like a lot of your customers would like to be able to use a usb hub.

You can use a USB hub with the WiiM. Just not like what you want to do.

The WiiM must be the primary USB device. You cannot have both the WiiM and a PC as primary.

the idea behind a hub is to allow multiple devices to interconnect without unplugging and moving cables. Seems like there has to be a way for the Wiim to navigate a hub connection in the same way that other usb devices do.

No. That is not the case with USB. USB don't support multi way connection. It has nothing to do with the WiiM implementation.

You cannot connect two PC's to a single printer USB interface, using a hub, either.
