Guys, looking for opinions, should I use default DAC within WiiM Pro, ie analog out to my Denon AVR 3313 or do a digital out and use the built in DAC within the Denon?

I realize I can try both, just looking for opinions. Denon has Burr Brown DAC, but several years old. WiiM Pro is supposed to have newer TI DAC.

Thoughts?

I'd go digital to Denon. There's far more to a dac than just the chip, and I suspect the wiim's output stage could well be a limiting factor in sound quality. And that's before we get into any (heated) discussion about analog / digital cables.
But as you realised - just try it...

Yes, I used the Wiim Pro with my Onkyo RZ-820 and the results were very nice. It was so smooth and enjoyable. The Onkyo DAC sounded great (with the Wiim first fold using Tidal). It was really this clean sound combined with the ease, freedom, and convenience of Tidal Connect that blew me away.

You'll be happy, but like me, it might cause you to wonder what a little add-on DAC like the SMSL SU-1 might do? Well I have answered that question and my advice is getting the SMSL SU-1 should be your next step. If you like MQA or you don't, my advice would be the same, get the SMSL SU-1 as soon as you can. You can turn off MQA in the Wiim settings if you want. But know that the Wiim is quite enjoyable simply paired with your AVR's DAC. Enjoy and have fun!
