Using WiiM Pro Plus with WiiM Amp Pro - Link Together for Volume Control or ?

Does anyone utilize a Pro, Pro Plus or Ultra with the Amp or Amp Pro? I'm trying to figure out the optimum way to control volume without inducing any added noise or distortion into the system.

My current setup:

1 - WiiM Pro Plus, connected to network via ethernet, music source: Apple Airplay controlled by iPhone
2 - WiiM Amp Pro, connected to network via ethernet, music source: Pro Plus via optical

So...does it matter if the two WiiM's are not linked, Amp Pro volume is set to 100, and volume is controlled by the Pro Plus, or if both are linked together and volume changes both equally? Or other options?

If it were me I'd probably run the pro at 100% and use the amp to control the final speaker volume, if only becuase it then means that if you do play something directly to the amp it's not full volume to the speakers.

I appreciate the desire for optimum, but can you hear any issues with anything you've tried? What's most convenient for you?

Thanks. Ya I should have mentioned that at least for now I haven't noticed much difference but I haven't really had a chance to really experiment since having them both.

I can't do your suggestion due to needing the Airplay functionality of the Pro Plus.

I think you may test the suggestion of Mr Ee.
Just set a fixed output volume at the Pro Plus and control the volume at the Amp pro.
Stream your music via Airplay to the Pro Plus.

The WiiMs can just be connected over the network.

That limits the resolution to 24/48 although that shouldn’t matter given the source is Airplay.
