Hello everyone, just wondering if anyone else here has had issues where the volume goes to 100 percent from a quiet listening level without touching remote or phone app? this has happened twice in the last couple of months with my ultra at low level volume after it`s been on for a couple of hours then all of a sudden the volume would shoot up to 100 percent then change tracks up and down then volume back down, when it does this the remote and app have no effect on stopping the issue and the only way to stop it and return to normal is to power it down, tried rebooting after the first time it happened and thought it was just a glitch then 2 nights ago it happened again, totally worried it will happen again and ruin my speakers because I am running 375 wpc into my polks and 200 wpc into my missions, any insight would be appreciated and yes I did submit a ticket 2 nights ago and haven`t heard back, thanks guys!! oh yes for got to add that I`m only using the ulta as a preamp and nothing else connected other than my amps

I've only heard about a similar issue once, with a TV connected through HDMI ARC. In this case disabling HDMI CEC on the TV appeared to help. Obviously not the same thing.

thanks for the reply, I guess I could try that even though it`s similar, grasping at straws right now and actually not sure if I really want to use it now

This sounds weird...
For using wiim ultra as digital preamp, volume goes from 0% to 100% can really damage the speaker.
The maximum output of a power amp using can be much larger than the rating power of the speakers.
can surely burn the speakers' components...

Yes very weird, I'm actually surprised it didn't smoke something, thankfully the power button still worked on the remote as none of the others were

The Volume Limit option within Audio Settings can be used to... wait for it... limit the (max) volume. ;)
I may have to set that as a precaution, Wiim wants me to reproduce the issue but it's very random, onl thing that was similar in both incidents was it was on for a few hours, so maybe heat related idk

Yeah, even though my reply was a little flippant this can be used as a protection.
Obviously it will digitally attenuate the signal - my understanding is that the signal is always attenuated by this factor rather than being applied as a limit once you reach that level.
I run all my wiims on variable volume (i.e. not fixed, with volume limit at 100% 'cos they feed integrated amps), but I've never had one go to full volume by itself.
Are you sure you're no one else is inadvertently controlling the wiim? Just a thought, but possibly not seeing as everything else stops working!

How hot does your Ultra run?

I run my Ultra for 10+ hours daily and it has never felt hot. Nor have I ever had such a problem.

Is it possible that you may have inadvertently pressed the volume button on the phone too long?

Yes I hear you , only problem is tat is the only problem is my amps only have gain adjustments, when it was connected to my denon I used the fixed volume , but I could go back to doing that but I didn't like the dac n the denon, as for someone else controlling the Wiim, I'm the only one here thank to a divorce unless one of the dogs are smarter than me... it's possible lol

I suppose my equpiments are robust enough and capable for running 7x24.
This makes me very aware about the stablilty of the wiim ultra,
as full power output of the amplifier can bring irreversible damage to the speakers which are expenisve and valuable to the users.
Running the wiim ultra for 7x24, Anyone ?
How is its stablilty ?

I don't know how anyone can keep Ultra running for 365 days when it has only been released for less than a year. 😂

All joking aside.

Not the Ultra, but here @adias did a durability test on the Amp pro.

I think we all need to collect large amount of usage feedback about this issue, since one single failure for this problem can seriously damage the speaker units

I had the same volume problem. I've had my Ultra since September and twice I came close to damaging the speakers. In my case the problem arose after having done the roon correction, when I listened to the changes (peq) and disabled or activated them the machine seemed to freeze and did not respond, the volume went up to 100% and then went back down... however, this happened in the first month of operation and has not occurred again until today. I had also reported the anomaly to wiim via the app but they had not encountered any problems. Now to be safe I limit the volume to 80%
My setup: Ultra (preamplifier)
Advance paris smart BX1 final amplifier

So…
It sounds this is not an individual failure case.
