I probably didn't title this correctly but what I'm trying to understand is why the volume level is higher on YouTube music (for example) compared to listening to DirecTV. DirecTV box connects to TV with HDMI. LG TV connected via HDMI to WiM Amp Ultra.
I can't use the per source option since the Amp see's the TV as one source HDMI.
I haven't seen anything in the TV settings or DirecTV that allow me to tweak the gain from different inputs.
Any ideas how I can better balance the volume when switching between sources on the TV?

Not from the WiiM side of things that I can think of. I don't think there's any standard for volume levelling between different apps on a tv, never mind different sources.

Where does the YouTube Music app run? Natively on the TV?

Most probably there's nothing you can do about it.

Is there a separate remote control for the DirecTV box and of so, try maxing out the volume there. Also, if it has a system menu to change the audio format, try cycling thru the options there

As the TV is the common factor have you checked what the sound settings on your TV can do ?
LG TVs do have an Auto Volume setting but whether it will help in your case I don't know

Thanks, I'll check to see if I can find something along the lines of Auto Volume.

It has a seperate remote but it controls the TV volume. I'll check again, but I don't recall seeing anything for volume on the box.

It runs from an app on the TV. It came with it and many more, so I guess that counts as Natively?
It does.

Since both sources have a very different level but are entering the WiiM Ultra through the same physical connection there's really nothing WiiM can do about it in their software.

You can use the YouTube Music integration in the WiiM Home app instead. The level in the pre-gain section will then be controlled by the value for Wi-Fi (or Ethernet). All these streaming serveices are sharing the same level setting, too, but they are usually quite similar. Downside: You'll be losing the display on your TV, naturally.

Devil or Beelzebub, the choice is yours. :)

Would that be the Youtube app and not the YouTube Music app?
If I'm not mistaken, there is no Youtube music app for TV.

You are watching a music video on the YouTube app would be able to cast it from your phone to your TV. In this case you can only adjust the volume of Youtube on your phone, so you don't need to adjust the volume on your TV or WiiM device.
Although it is not a fundamental solution..
