Volume steps too big iPhone and remote

Anyone else find the volume will only jump 2 or 3 steps at a time especially at low volumes?
Even using the iPhone control panel volume slider - it just visibly drops back down to previous level and volume doesn’t change, if I try and fine tune the volume by 1 or 2 steps
And same with remote although doesn’t seem as bad - I click once and sometimes it jumps several steps in volume
Spotify connect > Wiim Pro > digital coax out to speakers

Isn't this a Spotify thing?
I recall having this issue with a different device with spotify connect before I got a wiim, and am pretty sure I read about others having this issue too.
Edit: a quick google search shows loads of results on this topic over a few years across multiple manufactures.
i.e. it seems it's not a wiim specific issue, but maybe some others can chime in here.

Thanks yes just tried airplay and it seems to be ok.
Will get googling although it seems Spotify never fix anything!
