we need a desktop app

It's time for a PC/Mac desktop app to administer our Wiim Amp....connected to the same router...with ethernet or wifi...please do it now..
Control via IP will be better.

That way can use any computer OS or device via internet browser. If the app on your phone or computer no longer works (for whatever reason, I've been down that route) there is options for that method.

rather than start another thread.....I got my Android app working by re installing the device from scratch, although it did remember my favorites presets..?? anyway I have line out on auto sense-ing but nothing is happening when I put a line out sound to it....what might be going on??

I assume you mean Line In. Is anything playing over WiFi when you play something on Line In? It will only switch when the WiFi input stops.

no wifi, only ethernet, FirmW seems up to date...And any time I want to see the gear icon I have to set up from scratch....wtf is going on??
I tried checking the line in for audio resource...its still not sensing..

It's time to have a Windows PC app beyond beta. Please consider all people working on a pc as well as seniors that find it hard to use an iPhone or Android small screens for control.

Wiim app isn't that great. However it does what it needs to do. For better music playback there are other options, for example LMS.

Also you could use a tablet for the wiim app, should look fine on a 8" tablet.

Hmm, buy a tablet to run one app is like buying a new PC to run Windows 11 (no pun intended :))

I hardly use the app anyway it's not great . Initial setup and that's it

Perhaps look into lms? You can browse music in that on pc.

Although it won't change inputs on the wiim, perform room eq..but for music selection it's much better.

I noticed yet more stuff...I have to unplug the ethernet to get the gear icon....now the set up menu defaults to wifi for the input audio...
You can select the audio in box but there is also a menu where you select the music format...16/44....24/48...etc....many devices require you supply the exact audio codec or it wont play...is that the problem here??I want a WIIM rep to answer this....how would you get the audio in to work...I am not going to even try the signal wake up feature..I think its faulty... and also what is the story on the file type..16/44 etc..? Is that causing trouble for people? Please get on here and answer ...

Huh

You just set the maximum frequency your dac supports. Mine supports 24 bit 192 khz so I just select that once and that's it

This is primarily a user discussion and support forum, and WiiM only occasionally pop in to answer specific questions. However, rest assured the forum members are more than able and willing to help answer your queries.

In terms of digital resolution, you should set it to the maximum resolution of the external DAC or amp you’re connecting your WiiM device to. Files up to that resolution will be passed across at their original resolution from your WiiM device to the external device.

Filetypes supported include MP3, AAC, ALAC, AIFF, APE, FLAC, WAV, WMA and OGG.

i am using the Mac OS Beta Version of the app every day and it works great. Sure a lot of things doesn't look as nice as on the smartphone app but it works. Never had a problem and its a very good version 0.2.

Rather than an "app" I'd prefer web page access -- see LMS's web (eg., 192.168.1.XXX:9000 or :9000/material/) -- I'm typing this post from a Linux laptop so your Beta apps don't do anything for me. Web page access, however, is near universal. (And yes, I know I can always use LMS to manage my music collection on my Wiim players. It'd just be nice to have an official Wiim alternative.)

Yup. That's the reason why the Squeezeboxes worked years after official app supported ended (and no longer worked on new phones) If they didn't have that feature the streamers would be unusable, and a brick. You'd need to keep a old gingerbread phone just for the official Logitech app.

+1
Really need a desktop app! It does not have to be updated with every app update, but something better than what is now available would be helpful. Especially to those of us who don't live with a mobile in their hands!

I'm surprised to read that there are people out there that don't own a smartphone. I run Plex from a mini Windows11 pc thru my ultra but always control it from my Samsung phone. Windows is a complete pile of sh*te these days and I try to use it as little as I can. Still, each to their own I guess.

Quite. Windows never has been great or particularly stable, but I find it increasingly difficult to read small screens and type on tiny virtual keyboards, so much prefer using my laptop than my phone or even tablet.
Hopefully Wiim will take pity on others like me!
