I've been wanting to watch that series for some time. Given the soundtrack, I'll get to it sooner...thanks!
In the actual series, much of the music is just short pieces, but nevertheless fits well with the mood and action. Very good production compared to some recent flops, IMHOI've been wanting to watch that series for some time. Given the soundtrack, I'll get to it sooner...thanks!
Great cover - I shoot Astro images myself, this is the Trifid Nebula, must listen to the album too
Astro needs specialist gear: camera, telescope and tracking mount and lots and lots of exposures stacked together, these are very faint objects so typical total exposure is 10 to 15 hours!!Interesting @ABAstroUK ! How does such an Astro shoot session typically looks like?
"Islands" is different from other King Crimson albums. Less my thing compared to their other 70s albums but if you like, or are in the moment for, a more relaxed, softer, classical inspired vibe...
In all cases it has some very nice passages and melodies.
I do very basic astro stuff using a Pentax with a GPS attachment that moves the sensor to simulate a tracking mount. Nowhere near as effective as the proper gear but it can produce decent results. Skies are never clear enough for me to justify anything else. It is also easy to transport and set up quickly although it sometimes takes a few tries to get good calibrationAstro needs specialist gear: camera, telescope and tracking mount and lots and lots of exposures stacked together, these are very faint objects so typical total exposure is 10 to 15 hours!!
I like the sound of "Islands", I'll definitely have a listen this evening, thanks again for the recommendation
I used to have Pentax cameras in the good old days and in fact owned one of the first digital bodies. Their moving sensor tech is pretty neat. I agree totally with lack of clear skies, I'm lucky to live under dark rural skies with low light pollution and my rig is semi-permanent and fully automated so I can be up and running in a matter of minutes.I do very basic astro stuff using a Pentax with a GPS attachment that moves the sensor to simulate a tracking mount. I am not so lucky. When you leave your hotel in Tenerife at 5am and set your camera up on the beach to get the milky way before twilight you get strange looks from security guardsI used to have Pentax cameras in the good old days and in fact owned one of the first digital bodies. I agree they're linked, I've always loved all techie stuff and yes Astro is the end game for photography! An "other hobbies" thread would be nice too"Other hobbies" thread could be nice to track some other achievements in other fields...
I guess audiophile and photography are closely linked. And if you go all the way in photography (like an audiophile), then you end up with something like Astro stuff?
