What are you listening to?

As we are on trivia. Did you know that this was remixed and remastered by Tony Visconti fairly recently and re-released under its original intended name of Metrobolist?
It is a great example of a positive remix/remaster.
Once again, I didn’t know that, nor have I heard of Tony Visconti. 🤔

Did you know he was associated with “the Canterbury scene” and was in the original Soft Machine?
No I didn’t, but I used to work with a man from Kent, and he introduced me to Soft Machine, and also told me about the Canterbury scene.

Here’s one I made earlier.

It’s about 4 steps from Kevin Ayers to this Reggae album by Gregory Isaac’s if that.

Ayers formed Soft Machine along with Mike Ratledge, Robert Wyatt and Daevid Allen. After Ayers and Allen left they hung out together in Mallorca until going their separate ways. Allen, an Australian, went to France and formed Gong. He was unable to return to UK as his work permit had expired.
One of Gong’s earliest albums was Camembert Electrique which was re-released as a publicity stunt by Virgin records in 1974 at 50p.
Another Virgin 50p publicity album from 1975 was The Front Line - a Reggae sampler designed to showcase Virgin’s Reggae sub label - Front Line.
Selling albums at 50p was a loss leader even back in the 70s.
This 1978 Gregory Isaac album is on Virgin’s Front Line.
