Mr AWe are the same age, my first single was The Mighty Quinn in '68.
I didn't buy much else in the 60's because my parents were avid collectors so I had plenty to listen to & it was only after 1971 when Fairport Convention moved into the old pub opposite our house that I started to take a real interest in music.
Through the 70's I saw all the big hard rock/blues rock bands & solo artists but my regret is that I never saw Queen (didn't like Glam or anything like it at that time in my life but Live Aid changed that for me) also Hendrix died before I started listening to him, I was a bit too young at the time - wish I had been able to see him
Apart from those two I consider myself lucky be around at that time to see so much great and original music - Zeppelin, Purple, Focus, Gabriel era Genesis, The Stones, Beach Boys, Pink Floyd etc.
The Who, The Jam & Dr Feelgood were my favourite bands in the 70's & saw these three many times, especially Feelgood at the Kursaal Southend which was walking distance from my Nan's house. What a venue - Ian Dury, Hawkwind, Sabbath, Golden Earring, Tangerine Dream, Uriah Heep, Lizzy, Ace, Ducks Deluxe, Costello, Brinsley Schwartz.... loads of great memories, I was there every fourtnight (& slot car racing too!!)
And the Hammersmith Odeon was still called the Hammersmith OdeonMr A
Great list ( except Queen ).
The Kursaal, great venue - went there many times as your list above.
Did you ever venture down to The Bridge Hose E16.
Was at Steve Marriotts last gig, Standard Walthamstow.
Was at Ian Dury last gig, Ilford Palais.
Another very popular venue then was The Rainbow, Finsbury Park - went there a lot.
And obviously the fabulous Albert Hall.
Live music everywhere then, try and find some now thats not rubbish.
