I decided to just spin the wheel today on Apple Music’s Relax channel. Lots of cool stuff, some I have, some I’ve never heard of. This was the latest item of interest.

Haken - Aquarius

I own this album on CD, haven't listened for years & remembered that this track was the one to play.

Over a decade ago my group of music friends (RIP two) literally stopped talking late one night and listened right through when I played them this. Only Celestial Elixir, Radioactive Toy by Porcupine tree / Talking To The Buddah by The Slambovian Circus Of Dreams have achieved the same result in over 40 years of regularly listening & drinking together.

It includes some almost music hall time & tempo changes with effects reminiscent at times of of Split Enz or Genesis Foxtrot, then builds to a blinding and epic crescendo. I'm very partial to this sort of thing & have followed the band ever since although IMO nothing surpasses this 17 minutes (vocals from 4 min in). Never seen them, sadly.
