Derrin Nauendorf - Live At The Boardwalk (Guitar/drums)
I used to see him play regularly back in the early 2000s & drove a long way to be at this performance.
He does things with a guitar that I hadn't seen or heard before or since (even Rodrigo y Gabriela) & back then he was accompanied by a laid back drummer which suited his style perfectly.
Sadly this recording didn't have the running time to include the 6 min cover of 'Get Behind The Mule' but there's one as the last track on his album 'New History' which I also had to play just now.
Just a single piece of truly beautiful music, one of my all-time favourites from an artist that I own every LP of (but only saw once live, more's the pity).
We were with friends in Bradford a couple of years ago for my birthday & decided to go & see these on a whim. Very difficult to describe, sort of Celtic folk mixed with S American samba from a Canadian band! An absolute hoot & this album captures that exuberance. Great fun.
