I always listen through IEMs when cutting the lawn. On one occasion (playing something prog, very loud) I noticed the neighbour standing opposite with folded arms watching so I stopped & pulled out one earpiece to speak to him.

I then realised that the mower was not actually running - the cord had pulled out from its socket so I had been taking the dead mower for a series of 'walkies' back and forth for several passes across the grass.

He was laughing & so did I.

....a few months later I bought a cordless battery mower.

I have a gasoline-powered lawn mower and would notice if it stopped pulling me around the property... 😉
