David Garcia Diaz - Hellblade
I’m far too old to play video games but this came as a recommendation from a ‘young’ relative (also a relative term, he is middle aged). It is certainly dramatic and quite sinister, a surprisingly good listen though.

I actually got paid to play games late 90s early 2k was a fun job while it lastedI think we are the same age but you've got me on that one.
I last played games in 2007 when I was loaned a PS something (3 or 4??). I'd been laid up for weeks having had a discectomy so a member of the family lent me their playstation & a few games. My music room has an enormous fold down screen on the ceiling linked to the stereo for watching music DVDs etc & I must say the gaming experience was pretty immersive but became too addictive so I weaned myself off it.
Oddly I have gone from hard rock to jazz, classical and big band music after my 60th...strangely though, as I've got older I like to listen to more and more modern takes on my favourite genres - Hard Rock, Prog, Psych, Blues, Stoner Rock, Metal, Electronica & Dub in particular & even some Trance music. It's a result of a lifetime of music festivals where I was exposed to a huge variety & especially some of the Glastonbury, Latitude & Leeds festivals when 'our' (me & mates) kids were late teenage-mid 20s.
Some years through to my early 60s I camped out numerous times on muddy fields with long drops & leaky hose showers through the summer but last year was definitely time to call it quits. I have always been a 'music magpie', my closest mates feed me constantly & since getting into streaming & this thread in particular my condition has deteriorated... but I'm all the better for that![]()
Sounds like you may be masquerading as my best mate from student years?Oddly I have gone from hard rock to jazz, classical and big band music after my 60th
Hey it’s all music to me![]()
Unfortunately I have way to many hobbies to spend that on hifi though I do have to many expensive guitarsSounds like you may be masquerading as my best mate from student years?
Whenever he & I meet I feel its important to remind him of two lads in the 70s - tatty jeans & tee shirts, up the local drinking too much beer, staggering home with curried chips en route then listening to Purple, Floyd, Oldfield etc over more alcohol until unconscious.
He became pretty wealthy and now only wears designer clothes, drinks expensive wine from multiple varieties of dedicated glasses, ritualistic sniffing & swirling while eating venison, pheasant, caviar and oysters & listening ONLY to jazz cover albums.
...until I arrive with an LP that I insist on playing on his £ half million Linn system, £50k turntable just as an excuse to force feed 'proper music' back to him.
One of those loutish lads still maintains all the trademark shortcomings that the second has long since espoused. We are still great mates though.
