Nice retro look, are the additional “shelves” for vibration dampening?

The turntable has 5 dampening. mechanical dampening at the bottom of the table, glass also has dampening feet touching the table, so its 5 different levels of dampening.

And the table was made by my grandfather 50 years ago.
