Released a couple of weeks ago. Debut album "Be Lucky" by Louis Dunford.

Unashamedly London oriented with his all original songs based on local life in NW London.

I know his Gunner's hymn but wasn't aware that he already released two full-length. Great recommendation.

There are 2 EPs - the Popham EP and the Morland EP - and the debut album Be Lucky.
The subject matter of his songs is pretty unique I’d say.

Ok, this album is from 2024 😇
Listened to the guy the whole evening and the flash remains. Right, it is a bit mono-thematic. Such bios from 90s and today started in late 60s already. Wrong, they are common since ages. Seen so much similar, but managed to avoid the dark sides for me. One or another friend was not so good in avoiding.
For a non-native speaker like me the online lyrics of such songs are essential. Apple delivers, Tidal sadly not.

The songs I was thinking about were ones like:

Billy Flynn of Bethnal Green - about a transvestite boxer
Lucy - an encounter with a prostitute
The Local - Dunford's local pub

Is this an accurate portrayal of modern-day Britain? 🤔

Need a pause from the young man's music, too many stuff for my brain.
A counterpoint for me - lover of almost every genre beside jazz - I can recommend this album. Not only because of the artist, but also for the very unusual lineup. The booklet is very informative.

Brothers Phil and Ben Woollett with Paul Townsend. Contemporary British Blues at its best. From South East England - could not find it more precise.

Yes and he's also trying to teach me how to play guitar. Mission impossible, I'm the world's worst player... 😎
Thought it was you. Anyway, I will listen tomorrow. (Hopefully its not too jazzy 😉). There is a second album on Tidal with the identical band name. But Frankfort, Indiana seems to be a different band?

Some thousand kilometers away...
Anyway, a little jazzy...

The vocals take a bit of getting used to and I think they were mixed in the studio in a pleasing way, but musically I haven't been able to get past them for a few years now. New '25 album.
