We used to have Scotch Bitter in the north east. Still not really sure what that was.Lmao

That's certainly even more often the case in the US.You can't even open windows in many hotels![]()

Did you get the promised eq that will release in a week or two?We used to have Scotch Bitter in the north east. Still not really sure what that was.

That is exactly what I'm looking for now! The leader so far is the Rivo or RIvo Plus and it works well with the included volumio app. It's been out about 3 years now so I'm hoping something new comes out similar. The response to that would be a standalone (no preamps, no dac) streamer transport with a fully enclosed metal case and a very high quality filtered power supply. Other people have been asking for that.![]()

I would also like XLR output and a slight upgrade on dac quality. If Wiim choose to make another streamer I hope it has a bigger screen that can be read from 3m away, it's the only thing I find I miss, other than that I think it's a stand out device that improves weekly![]()
I would still like a screen but make it defeatable for critical listening. XLR outs are needed if they are keeping the dac functionality.Ok, but for ultimate streamer performance anything else added contributes to noise and interference. For ultimate quality:
Streamer > DAC > Analog amplification.
Ultra is good. To make it better make it strictly a streamer. And no screen. IMO.
That feature set would be an instant buy for me but would likely push it out of price range of their target market. Might as well add an upgraded AKM dac with a good clock while they are at it.The WiiM Ultra is approaching peak WiiM as it is, in terms of performance. There are some slightly higher-spec things that they could add, but really it would not be a lot. I imagine it would be possible to make a WiiM Ultra Special Edition and maybe give it these things:
Include the Voice Remote 2 (as Amp Ultra does)
True Balanced Differential Outputs (XLR, or combo TRS/XLR)
Stereo Subwoofer Outputs, better bass management (slope selection)
Option to upgrade with DIRAC Live license for room correction
Option for Higher Output Voltage (2.5/5V single-ended/balanced, which helps push the sound farther past the noise floor)
Analog Volume Control (relay-actuated resistor ladder preferable, but even if it's just the same attenuator they put in the VibeLink, as long as it's analog and it's remote-controlled [unlike VibeLink], that's good enough), because analog volume control attenuates the full signal including noise floor, unlike digital volume control
