Hi Folks!
Which cheapest Wiim streamer would be still not loosing quality to stream Tidal and Spotify to Rme Adi-2 Dac Fs and headphone system?

I understand that even with Mini I can make such connection via optical, but it will have up to 48kH/16bit? Tho ChatGPT saying that i probably still can change these settings in the app? Is it true, won’t it be very laggy or something? Or I should better look for some more expensive streamer?

You need at least a Pro for spotify lossless. EDIT: mini works for spotify lossless too.
Or at least, I can't get spotify lossless to work on my mini.
The mini will do 192 / 24 from tidal (and others that support it). It's not limited to 48 / 16 in and of itself.

The Mini supports 24bit 192kHz.

A Mini was my first WiiM a few years ago. Together with a decent DAC, by coincidence an RME too, it did nearly everything I wanted back this days. The only reason to go away from the Mini was an architectural bad and not changeable wifi situation. It was under this specific circumstances the reason to go steps ahead direction Ultra. Meanwhile time decided different. But if "cheap" is the target and your wifi is good you can not do better than with the Mini.

And just to be perfectly clear on this, @Promso:
  1. Lossless Spotify is not available on all devices supporting Spotify Connect, but it is available on all WiiM devices.
  2. You must enable the lossless option in the Spotify app for each and every device you connect to separately. There isn't one global option to enable lossless.

Same with me, Mini and a better standalone DAC.

The only reason I upgraded (to a Pro) was because the Mini doesn't support Squeezelite and t wanted to continue to use LMS to listen to my ripped CD's.

I had Ultra as well, but don’t understand what can be architecturally bad with Mini when you connect it to such dac like RME which has all needed outputs, preamp, ton of settings and etc..?

However, for increased connectivity options, features and future proofing, the WiiM Pro, Pro Plus or Ultra are better options if your budget can stretch to one of them.
What connectifity or features you think I can miss with mini for headphones system?

The only thing comes to my mind if I would want to connect to TV, but for that I have separate stereo system. For me most important to do not loose on music quality.

It was about the architecture of our house, not about the architecture of the Mini. 😂
We do not want a router in our living room and so with a long 15mm drill, an ethernet cable and the Ultra problem was solved.

Regarding 1st point - you mean it is not available for example even to Bluesound Node Icon?

Best asking that on a Bluesound forum, but from googling it it appears their firmware has been updated to support Spotify Lossless. Other kit suppliers may not have done so yet so you need to check for the kit you're buying

If it's just a pure streaming headphone system then the mini should do just fine. My headphone system consists of a mini feeding a topping dx5ii and it's great - all I need.
When I will use it at work desk, to that dac/preamp/headphone amp will be also connected active speakers. But i guess still should be fine. I had Ultra earlier, what functions Mini will be missing comparing to Ultra without its screen, better internal dac and more output/input options?

My headphone system is also in my office and connected to an integrated amp and passive speakers; so very similar use case to you. I also used to have an ultra and honestly, the sound quality and functionality in this set-up with the mini is just as good. I'd only suggest going above the mini if you need a) a better dac (which you don't seem to), b) more inputs/outputs (which you don't seem to), c) subwoofer out, or d) the touch screen on the ultra.

Just hard to believe how good this 100 euro device is:) i hope it will not lag more than ultra(was happy with it), tho it has less ram, but maybe less functions will compensate that.
