Hello,

I am new to the WiiM Community and I have had the device for two days. I added it to my setup and so far I really like it. I currently own a set of passive speakers so I plugged in the provided RCA cable into the back of the ultra and then plugged the other end of the RCA into the input of my Sony STR-DH190 receiver.

Can someone let me know if I have set this up properly?

Hello and welcome.
Well, if you can listen music from you speakers, everything is ok...
If for any reason you can't listen, then let's talk about.

Seriously, the wiim setup went right?

Thank you for the thoughtful reply. My point is that I’m trying to make sure I’m using the DAC audio from the WiiM and not the Sony receiver.

Hi,

The Ultra's analog outputs (RCA) are converted from digital to analog by the built-in DAC. In other words, the Ultra's DAC is used for the Line-out connection.

Also, I don't think the STR-DH190 STR-DH590 has a built-in DAC.

Surely it must have an in-built DAC if it accepts digital inputs like coax, optical and hdmi which it appears to have?
