Hello to all home automation fans,

I'd like to know which software you use to control your WiiM system and integrate it into your smart home. My Smarthome is based on KNX and I'm currently familiarizing myself with NodeRed, but my system is flexible and I´m maybe also intereseted in for using a different solution. I´m a newbie, so I´m interested if their are any ready-to-use packets or is the only way to use die API-commands?

And above all, I would be interested to know what automation you have created for everyday use with the system.

My Setup: 4 Pro Plus for 4 rooms (bath, kitchen, living room and garden)

It shows up in HomeAssistant and implementation seems accurate, but I don't use it this way, since I use my ProPlus only as source in my regular HiFi system.

Control4. Hubitat runs the automation side of my house, but not doing anything with WiiM on that side at the moment.

Stumbled across this and figured I would chime in. I currently have 4 Pros connected to a 6-zone amplifier that run to various rooms of my home. I have put together a working solution with Homebridge, the Wiim HTTP API commands and wall-mounted Lutron Pico Audio Remotes. I can play/pause, control volume, skip tracks, and select playlists directly from the remote. It has been working great for screen-less playback, and has high WAF.

Control4. I actual use Home Assistant for home automation stuff but Control4 was put in by the prior owners and is much more capable of managing audio/video equipment. C4 has proprietary zigbee-based remotes that have no comparison to anything available that works with HA. Even Logitech remotes, which are now discontinued, prefer to control most devices via infared. C4 typically has both IR based and IP based drivers. So any newer equipment can be controlled from over the network vs running IR to each device in different rooms. We also have a whole-home audio setup (ceiling speakers in several rooms) and the C4 amps are decent and control through the iOS/Android app is fantastic. The major downside to C4 is everything is proprietary and has to be installed/configured by a licensed rep so it is pricey. I have hundreds of devices in Home Assistant (light switches, motion, various odds and ends, etc.) and it would cost a literal fortune to replicate in C4.

C4 already has access to online streaming like Pandora, Spotify, etc. as well as their is a matrix so you can input a number of physical devices. I am using the WiiM to access my personal ripped music collection which is managed by Plex. C4 has a driver to access your music either through DLNA or a network share but it is somewhat limited in functionality and I don't want to maintain playlists, etc. in multiple places. WiiM acts as the intermediary between C4 and Plex (with very limited functionality) and is also my physical input to the C4 matrix amplifier.

The only other option I found was to move my music collection to Roon and then use the Roon C4 app and WiiM Roon-enabled functionality. However, I struggle paying Roon $15/mo (or $829 for lifetime) to stream my own music. Rood would be the better/more capable solution but the cost makes no sense for me.
