Hi all,

Hoping you may be able to help me with a syncing issue im experiencing with my wiim amps.

I have two amps, one is running 4x 8ohm ceiling speakers in my living room and the other amp is running 2x 8ohm speakers in my outdoor entertainment area. Individually they run flawlessly however when you group them the outdoor ones have a 0.5-1 second delay compared to the indoor ones.

I have been through the app and have not been able to find the option for music sync that was online as a suggestion.

Both amps have hardwired Ethernet so have ruled out a network issue.

When you turn them both on you can hear the delay in the outdoor ones starting up compared to the indoor ones.

Any tips would be amazing. Living the wiim gear just want them to be in sync so we can have both amps and all 6 speakers running together when entertaining.

Thanks

Hi

Unfortunately, WiiM Amp does not have a Audio-Sync feature. May I ask you a few questions?

1. Does this mean that the outdoor Amp takes longer to wake up from standby mode than the indoor Amp?

2. What happens if you set the outdoor Amp as the group leader? (Will the sound from the indoor Amp be delayed?)

Welcome.

Unfortunately, the Amps don't have the Sync Audio menu option in their settings.

Hi,

Yes the outdoor amp takes longer to wake up than the indoor one.

I have tried setting both the indoor and outdoor amp as the leader and the same issue occurs.

It is the outdoor amp that has the delayed sound no matter if it’s a leader or follower.

Really hoping there is a solution cause it makes them unplayable together.

Thanks

That's strange... That shouldn't normally happen...
Do you usually shut down the Amp? (Do you unplug the power cord?)

I don’t shut them down, they go to sleep (after 2 mins of inactivity) once we have stopped streaming music to them. They are both located in our data cupboard so we wake them up by using the wiim app, linking them and streaming via Spotify or using air play 2 via the Spotify app and selecting the group as the output.

It does seem odd cause they are both located together and connected directly to the router and the speaker cable runs are very similar (within 5ish meters of each other).

There might be an issue with the outdoor amp.

Have you submitted a support ticket yet?
I recommend submitting a ticket via the feedback section in the WiiM app.
(WiiM home > More > Feedback)

Your device logs will be sent, which will help resolve the issue.

These are some general troubleshooting steps, but if there’s anything you haven’t tried yet, please give it a try.

- Try checking if the same issue occurs with other sources (such as TuneIn).

- Check the network status in the WiiM app and turn off IPv6. Set the DNS server to manual and switch to a different server (configure both Amps to use the same server).

- Reboot the Amp and router (by unplugging the power cables).

- Perform a factory reset on the outdoor Amp.

Thanks for your help, I’ll give those a go. I have submitted a ticket also so will see what comes of that.

Thanks again

I tried that but group audio delay doesn’t allow you to change the delay for Ethernet or wifi inputs only the others.

The group delay is for the output from the lead device, not the input.
