wiim amp ultra and ultra with spotify connect

Hello...
I Have wiim amp ultra on guest room, and wiim ultra at my bedroom... both device also standby with power ac plugin...

first problem i have is, when i want to stream spotify using samsung galaxy S23 (android 16) to one of them, No spotify connect is show up, only google cast is show up on both ultra... BUT this not happen when i use my iphone XS MAX, or PC...

second problem is, my SONY TV KD65X80K when i plug hdmi4 to PC or SAT DECODER,
HDMI ARC (hdmi 3 on tv) make communication failure between TV and Wiim Amp Ultra.
but when i unplug hdmi 4 and do restart on TV and Wiim amp ultra, that normal again...

does somebody help me....

This actually seems to be an issue in the Spotify Android app, have a look at this post in the Spotify support community. This issue seems to have been introduced in version 9.0.80.1320 of the Spotify Android app.

Unfortunately there's still no official response from Spotify on when will it be resolved. One workaround is to disable Google Cast on your Ultra in WiiM Home app.

it strange to me,, when both ultra on standby mode with ac plugin , no spotify connect detect on samsung s23 phone... BUT when i UNPLUG Ac power one of ultra,, the other ultra show up Spotify connect.....

The Android Spotify app now only shows the Google Cast option, which is a deliberate change by Spotify. It’s uncertain if they will revert this update. Regarding the HDMI recognition issue, it could be caused by interference. If HDMI 4 allows you to disable HDMI CEC, please do so. Additionally, if your computer or SAT decoder lets you disable HDMI CEC, try disabling it there as well.


If possible, please send us feedback via the WiiM Home App > More tab > Feedback when your TV can recognize the WiiM Amp Ultra, and then send another feedback after connecting your PC or SAT decoder to HDMI 4 and the TV can no longer recognize the Amp Ultra. We will compare the logs to investigate further.

Thanks for that @Ethan.SS - is there any indication why they’re doing that? It seems a very strange move to cull their own transport mechanism which I thought they’d be pushing in preference to Google Cast. Is WiiM’s advice still to turn off Google Cast in that case to restore Connect?

Can you elaborate on that?
i.e. under what circumstances? Is google cast now their preferred option, hence the only one shown, if the device reports it supports google cast?

Yes, it is recommended to disable Google Cast when using Spotify Connect.

It must only impact certain Android devices as I can happily use Spotify Connect from my Motorola phone (my WiiM app shows it’s using Spotify) but then again I may have already Connected to my WiiM devices from my iPad and that might have clouded the issue. It’s certainly annoying for those experiencing this issue.

Been experiencing the same issue with my daily-use Pixel 6 (Android 16 official) and a OnePlus 7 Pro for music listening/gaming (LineageOS 23 based on Android 16).

Old iPad and Mac's will all see the WiiM Ultra as a Spotify Connect target. Not sure what's changed and why it was changed, but hoping for a fix soon...

However, the opposite is happening on my Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi Pad Mini. Google Cast doesn't appear, and only Spotify Connect is available for connection. (There is no three-dot icon to the right of the device name.)


#Currently, Google Cast toggle is enabled on 5 WiiM devices.


Do you have any information about this?
Does Spotify assign different connection methods based on Android device models (or brands)?

same with my problem,, if you 5 Wiim Devices standby on power, android device cannot detect spotify connect, only google cast....
BUT.. turn off 4 devices of Wiim,,, then re-open your spotify app on android phone,,, spotify connect show up... google cast dissappear...

When you using iphone, pc, or mac, your 5 wiim devices , spotify connect is show up without problem....

that only problem make me headache is HDMI ARC input on ULTRA, with SONY TV KD-65X80K.. (if your plug HDMI 4 with PC or other device),, the communication between ULTRA and TV is issue problem.... it seem CEC problem,,
i dont know how to turn off CEC control on NUC 11 mini PC (Intel BASE)... or should i use CEC blocker ???

I'm not very familiar with HDMI, so I'm not sure sorry.. Wouldn't plugging the PC into HDMI 1 or 2 solve the issue?
