WiiM Home and Tidal Connect are disconnected

I am frustrated by the poor clunky integration of Tidal, Tidal Connect and the WiiM app. FYI I'm using Tidal on android through WiiM Pro. Yes, all on latest versions, all caches cleared etc etc.

1. Tidal Connect on the WiiM app doe not show the full range of options I have on Tidal native - e.g. recently listened, new albums etc.

2. After opening a playlist on Tidal, selecting the Pro to play it the WiiM app takes over, automatically opens Tidal Connect and the native Tidal on my android device freezes.

3. If I want to then listen to, say a new album, I have to quit WiiM since it does not show new albums and often have to restart Tidal.

4. Once I have started playing the new album and restart WiiM then WiiM keeps playing the previous playlist.

How can I stop WiiM doing this? Never had the problem with dumb old chromecast audio.

Your message is confusing because using the native Tidal app to play via the Wiim is what Tidal Connect is.

Thanks. Maybe I don't fully understand. But that still leaves the problem that to use my WiiM Prop I have to use the WiiM app, which uses Tidal Connect. And Tidal Connect does not serve the same range of music options as native Tidal. It's like the app is putting itself in the way.

No, you don't.

You can either use the Tidal music service integrated into the WiiM Home app (which is not Tidal Connect) or you can use the native Tidal app and use it's connect feature to play music to your WiiM. The result is the same, just the user interface (and possible user experience) is different.

Play something on your native Tidal app, tap on the playback bar so you see the details of the track playing, then hit the little speaker icon (currently) on the top of the page and select your WiiM.

The use of the WiiM Home app is optional for streaming content from Tidal.

Was just about to say something similar but your explanation is much better. One addition is that the Tidal service integrated in the Wiim Home app is there because Tidal Connect was a later added feature.

We would need some more detail on this one, now that we have the nomenclature straight.

The WiiM Home app does know what is currently playing, of course, but it should not "freeze" the native Tidal app. Could you try to explain again?

Sorry, but the answer is and remains no.

If using Tidal's Connect feature on your tablet opens the WiiM Home app (when this has been closed before) then there's something strange about this tablet. "All on latest version" doesn't tell much about it.

You can use the WiiM Home app to send feedback to WiiM directly. Tap on More, then Feedback. Logs will be sent along with your message. You can also attach pictures of videos of what you've been doing.

I don't use Tidal so I don't know the details, but as @harkpabst said, it sounds like there is an issue with your tablet. Can you tell us the model of your tablet and the Android OS version?

Also, have you already tried rebooting your tablet and WiiM device, and reinstalling the Tidal app?

The initial OS version of the Lenovo M11 appears to be Android 13.

If Tidal app freezes again, it is most likely that the Tidal app or your tablet is the cause of the issues.

Also, can you elaborate again on how the freezing happens - when the Tidal app freezes, does the music stop and you can't do anything on the app? (Does the app freeze completely?)

Could you also post the following screenshots?

• Device connection screen in the Tidal app (photo to confirm that the Pro is connected properly)
• Please open the WiiM app while playing on Tidal Connect and capture the Now Playing Screen. (I want to see the icon at the top of the screen.)

Can you give an example of an internet search indicating this is a WiiM problem? Not sure how the Tidal app freezing can be blamed on WiiM.

Android 17 has not been released. Google didn't even announce a date for any beta release. Android 16 has just been officially released 8 days ago. So far, I think only Google's own Pixel smartphones actually got Android 16.

17.0.102 could be the version number of Lenovo's own Android based operating system, but it's definitely not the Android version it runs on. According to their website. Android 14 is the latest Android version available (but these version tables are often not very reliable with many manufacturers).

This! You won't loose any configuration settings, playlists or presets on your WiiM Pro by deleting the WiiM Home app. Only less important things like your playing history will be missing.

It's not too uncommon for the native Tidal app to loose the Tidal Connect connection to the target device over time. This happens with all kinds of streamers of every price class. The music will continue to play, but you can no longer control it from the Tidal app.

However, the Tidal app doesn't usually freeze in these cases. You can still use it to find and play.music and then reconnect it again to the target device.

Don't forget to send feedback to WiiM (aka file a ticket).

And not just Tidal - similar happens with Amazon Music AlexaCast, Chromecast etc where as you say, the connection “expires” but use of the streaming app can continue and you can ”re-connect” to the first session in the same manner in which you first established it.

Sounds like a misunderstanding of Connect/cast mechanisms is where the OP’s frustration is coming from…
