WiiM Home iOS app - Plex Media Ogg/Vorbis audio files not working?

Hello everyone, there is probably an iOS compatibility problem here, but I wanted to ask if I'm right. I use a Plex Media Server, which also stores music albums in OGG/Vorbis format. When I retrieve these via the iOS WiiM app, the corresponding albums are available, but without tracks. Is it possible that the music is not readable here because iOS does not recognize this format? Conversion to AAC format would not be an option for me here, unless the PMS would transcode the audio files temporarily, which is not done here. Does anyone know a solution? Thanks for your help

I’d raise a ticket with WiiM via the more/feedback section in the app, maybe attaching one of these files. I understood WiiM devices do support OGG, but there may be something in the Plex setup that isn’t handling these correctly.

Until WiiM sort this, is there maybe an option for you to enable DLNA on your Plex server and see if the WiiM app can play them thru that route?

Hi Burnside, I don't want to share music tracks for copyright reasons, but I can say that I can play these Ogg/Vorbis tracks with the iOS PlexAmp app without any problems. I suspect that PlexAmp is converting the tracks to AAC internally. For example, I can also see that the tracks are transcoded to AAC when played back via the web interface.

I’d doubt copyright would be invoked when you are submitting a ripped track purely for diagnostic purposes, but doing so would better help WiiM diagnose and resolve your issue. Alternatively I guess you could use software to give as much details about the file’s properties without sharing it.

What about the DLNA route as a trial /stopgap?

upps, my fault. Opus is the correct codec. If WiiM is not compatible to Opus than this thread can be closed.
I think admin tend not to close threads as the forum is for support and discussion - there’s always the chance that someone has something else to add or query :)
