Hi folks! I just got a Wiim Pro Plus. Interestingly, it appears as “Wiim Pro” in Alexa (no “Plus”). Have other folks encountered this as well? It does show up as Pro Plus in the Wiim app. I want to make sure I didn’t somehow get the wrong unit.

I am also not sure what to make of the “friendlyName” entry which I think was created when I set up the Wiim.

Thanks!

Welcome.

There are a few differences between the pro and plus.
The pro weights 330g while the pro plus weighs 400g.
The plus has more space around the rca sockets.
I'm pretty sure the plus allows you to choose a dac filter for the line out.
Bound to be more, but no prizes for showing me up!

If the wiim app shows it's a plus, it probably is ;)
What name did you give it in the wiim app?

Do I have this correct? Your WiiM Home App says your device is named WiiM Pro Plus - Living Room and Alexa says your device is named David's WiiM Pro. Very odd.

Here's what Perplexity says about your friendlyName device:

House with Wi‑Fi symbol“Smart home” / home network device (e.g., router/eero, hub, or a home‑level connection entry) rather than a single TV or speaker
On some setups (especially if you have an eero router or Fire TV), you may see both a TV icon (the physical TV) and a house‑with‑Wi‑Fi or Wi‑Fi‑style icon, which represents the network “connection” or hub entry for that device rather than another separate TV.

My Pro Plus is also referred to as WiiM Pro in the Alexa app. I'm guessing that there is no differentiation between the 2 models as far as Alexa is concerned, or perhaps internally WiiM have also not given them separate names for Alexa purposes. Nevertheless, it has caused no issues and shows up as Pro Plus everywhere else.

Thank you for confirming!!
