Hi guys, it's my first post here. Nice to be a part of the old-style forum community! :)

This month I wanted to enter a good audio quality level finally. I bought active monitors (Krk rokit 5 g4) and Wiim pro plus as DAC. I'm using Amazon Music for HQ. When I connected everything I felt that it was not quite this performance. The first thing I felt was a lack of bass and I think I will buy an additional KRK S8.4 Subwoofer. Now I'm wondering if going for active speakers was the right decision after all. Maybe I should just go for a more powerful DAC and passive speakers and use Wiim as a streamer only? What are your thoughts?

I assumed you meant to write more powerful amp (not dac) and passive speakers, but then you also wrote use the pro as a streamer only... to do that you need an amp somewhere!
Those speakers have DSP, so I'm also assuming they'd convert an analog input to digital, do whatever, and back to analog again (like the wiim amp does with its analog input).

Is it really just the bass that's the main issue?
Being quite small speakers I'm not surprised that you think there's a lack of bass, but yes, a subwoofer may make a reasonable difference.
However, I can't see how you'd connect one unless maybe you split the wiim's analog output.

I don't know what you had before, how big your room is, what budget you have etc., but to be brutally honest, if you are having doubts then maybe this combination isn't for you.

I have my Pro plus rca into my KRK 10inch sub, then xlr into 2 rokit 5 inches. each on isoAucaustic stands. And it sounds awsome.

Be sure to position the speakers correctly and dampen the room properly. Improper speaker placement and an empty room will completely destroy the sound.

Hi everybody,

I was reading your thread and I also have the Wiim Pro Plus (I'm fascinated by its performance, in general) connected to some active speakers (Edifier S2000MKIII). I'm very satisfied with the set, but perhaps the main aspect to improve is the subwoofers...

Considering that, indeed, the Wiim Pro Plus does not have a subwoofer output, what do you think about splitting the analog signal that comes out via RCA from the Wiim Pro Plus? Is it really efficient or is the signal lost, negatively affecting the signal that reaches the active speakers?

Thanks in advance !!

Hi Xelusalientes, Team

Our team is exploring a 'wireless subwoofer' solution that allows you to connect a WiiM Mini or Pro to a powered subwoofer, grouping it with your main speakers. By setting the WiiM Mini/Pro to subwoofer mode, bass management and room correction will automatically apply. This creates a fully wireless subwoofer setup, offering the flexibility to pair with any main speakers without the need for physical wiring.

On my PC, I use m-audio BX5 active monitors. When I first got the setup I was disappointed by bass response. I got a cheap polk audio 10" sub and connected it by splitting the line level analog signal out of my DAC (focusrite 8i6). It sounds great!!

There is a drop in the analog signal level with the split but it is easily compensated for by adjusting levels of the monitors and sub. I do not lack any volume!!
