Wiim Pro & Pure Direct

I just got a Pro and hooked it up using line out to Audio 1 on old Yamaha AVR RX-V673 receiver. I noticed that it only plays when I have the Yamaha set to Pure Direct. If I turn Pure Direct off, then nothing plays. Can someone explain what is going? I'm not even sure I fully understand what pure direct is and have never really used it on my receiver.

Have you tried other audio inputs?

This may be due to the fact that "Audio 1" is usually set as the TV audio input.

Re it only working when pure direct is on, this link suggests there may be an issue with your receiver’s digital board - does it work otherwise?
