How so? I just went to check and I don't see how it would work. there's no 3.5mm jack and that connector doesn't have a way to insert into the optical port.
Getting up to the stereo to mess with this stuff is sketch level 8, very fun.

Well yea, that's how I used the Chromecast audio the entire time. I thought it was being suggested I could use the Google cable to test the WiiM.
No I was suggesting using the chromecast puck with the optical lead to test your amp. Glad it's stopped humming. Ronnie

Strange indeed, so just hope it stays that way.
I wonder if it need more than 24 hours to "go to sleep" or standby or something. Won't be finding out this weekend though.

Optical does not produce ground loops I believe…
Might be mains connections or some other connection…
If it comes again send feedback to WiiM via the WiiM home app.
