I have a WiiM Pro , SMSL D0100 DAC (same DAC as Pro Plus), and Denon AVR-X1700H as speaker amp.

I am trying to understand what is the best room correction to use and how to perform it.

I figure for music, the room correction on Denon is overkill so it would be better to use the WiiM pro room correction as it is more specialized for two channel audio. Therefore I would want to set my denon audio mode to direct or pure direct.

My question is what is the best way to perform room correction ?

1) WiiM pro connected to SMSL via toslink and SMSL to Denon via RCA than perform room correction.

or

2) WiiM Pro connected to Denon via Toslink, perform room correction. After room correction, connect SMSL to WiiM Pro.

My gut says option two is better. Correct the raw signal on WiiM pro first connected directly to Amp. Than introduce the better DAC to process to analog the signal that has already undergone room correction.

But I am not an expert ...this is all very new to me. Please someone help!

I would have thought you'd perform room correction on the system the way you intend to use it, i.e. option 1.
Ok this is helpful. This makes sense because I want room correction to account for the entire signal. Digital go digital , and than external DAC converting to analog, Denon receiving analog and outputting to speakers.
