WiiM Sound Firmware v5.2.739557 Update - Dec 23, 2025

Important Note:

Alexa Re-login Required: This update refreshes our Alexa integration (ID updated to WiiM_Sound). You will be automatically logged out after the update; please sign in again via the WiiM Home App to resume voice functionality.

What’s New:

1. New Home Screen Widgets:
   • Radio: Select and play your favorite stations directly from the device screen.
   • Recently Played: Quickly access your listening history.
2. VU Meter: Added support for the VU Meter display mode.
3. Alexa Visual Interface: Added on-screen status indicators for Alexa (Listening, Thinking, Speaking) and prompts when not signed in.
4. Wi-Fi: Stronger connection stability; improved compatibility with Wi-Fi 7 routers.
5. Queue: Better track order retention in shuffle and faster queue operations across NAS/Samba/Local, TIDAL, Qobuz, Radio Paradise, YouTube, Deezer, and SoundCloud.
6. Multi-room: Improved multicast logic for more reliable discovery/connectivity; reduced stutter when using Bluetooth input.

General Improvements:

1. Touch Controls: Smoother volume adjustment when long-pressing touch buttons.
2. Performance: Faster switching speed when changing to Audio Input from other modes.
3. Setup Experience: Optimized network configuration logic for a faster and more stable setup process.

Bug Fixes:

1. Qobuz: Stabilized progress bar; fixed shuffle dropouts, playback-mode mismatch, and missing artist/track metadata.
2. Soundtrack: Updated SDK; fixed disconnects when renaming the device during playback.
3. Plex: Added remote streaming over WAN.
4. Amazon Music: Fixed position reset after back-to-back seeks.
5. TIDAL Connect: Fixed playback interruptions after ~1 hour.
6. TuneIn: Now consistently selects the highest available stream quality.
7. Radio: Resolved failures for certain station formats.
8. Google Cast: Device now retains its assigned room after reboot.

I quite like the VU Meter display mode, and for me the round meter style looks so much better than the VU Meter on the Ultra/Amp Ultra.

I would prefer to have the option for one with a black background though, as this is much easier to see with low brightness settings on the screen.

Went to check mine and it looks like it updated itself in the background. Don’t think I’ve seen that happen much if at all…

I have had that happen with my Ultra on a couple of occasions.

Mine also updated, but I didn't need to log back into Alexa. However, the Alexa app shows two WiiM Sound devices.

And for the first time ever, the Amp Ultra update failed. I resolved it by rebooting the device. Since Spotify playback has been unstable lately, I disabled DNS auto-switching to I'm watching how it goes.
